Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka shankar is a British and American sitarist. She also plays music. She was first within her age bracket to receive the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka is the emerging star of Indian sitar. She is a student as well as child of Ravi Shankar. Born in London, she spent the early years of her life traveling between London as well as New Delhi. Her debut performance was in New Delhi when she was only 13 years old. At the age of 13, she finished her high school education at Encinitas CA. Anouskha continues to have a bright career in recording and performing even though she's only a teenager. She frequently joins her father during performances, something she's been doing for quite a few years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. It was followed by Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years following. The stage is a very large part of her career. She's played in many famous venues around the world. Anoushka Shankar's career is not limited to the music industry. Bapi The Love of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that was a tribute Ravi Shankar. In 2003 she starred as the role of a Bharat Nathyam young dancer Dance Like a Man. From the age of nine she began studying music under her father making her performing debut with the sitar four years later at the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. Alongside her father, his world tour, Anoushka racked up a wealth of experiences appearing on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens, performing in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, and also recording alongside George Harrison.
